I entrusted my 10-month-old Goldendoodle, Ellie, to Pawfect Dog for a three-week boarding and training program. Despite her generally calm demeanor for a puppy, Ellie’s habit of jumping on people and lunging at other dogs was becoming a serious concern, especially when my 3-year-old granddaughter visited. I had previously worked with a trainer but saw little improvement.
From the moment I left Ellie with Rachel, I felt confident but unsure of what to expect. To my delight, within just 30 minutes of leaving, Rachel sent me photos and a detailed report on how Ellie was settling in. This immediate communication allowed me to relax and fully enjoy my son’s wedding abroad.
Throughout the three weeks, Rachel’s updates were nothing short of extraordinary. I received nearly 60 photos, videos, and texts, meticulously detailing Ellie’s progress. The videos showcased Rachel’s effective use of her own dogs, including the charming Boone, to foster positive behaviors in Ellie. It was heartwarming to see how seamlessly Ellie integrated into their happy pack, constantly engaged and learning.
Rachel’s dedication was evident in every update. She addressed my concerns about Ellie’s exercise and boredom, assuring me that Ellie would thrive—and she was absolutely right. Since coming home, Ellie has been a transformed dog. She now walks calmly by my side, no more pulling or lunging. Most importantly, the incessant jumping has stopped!
Yes, Ellie now wears an e-collar and a prong collar, sleeps in her crate, and adheres to commands like “place,” but these changes have only enhanced her well-being. Ellie seems happier, more affectionate, and is clearly benefiting from her structured routine. While she might miss her new friends and the frequent park outings, her behavior has vastly improved, bringing peace to our home.
I couldn’t be more grateful to Rachel and Pawfect Dog for their exceptional training and care. This experience has exceeded all my expectations, and I highly recommend them to anyone seeking transformative training for their beloved pets.

We had our puppy Daisy do the puppy kick start two week program and she had a wonderful time! Rachel and Boone made her feel right at home. We also got very good training to understand how to properly reward her and work with her. She was already the best puppy but now we get compliments everywhere we take her on how calm she is and how well behaved even for only 4.5 months.

I recently had the pleasure of sending my dog Enzo to The Pawfect Dog for a two-week board and train program, and I am absolutely amazed at the transformation! Before his training, Enzo could barely sit still for more than a few seconds (he's a 1 year old Vizsla after all!). However, under the expert guidance of Rielar and his canine training partner, Zoe, Enzo now can sit quietly for over five minutes. This is a huge achievement!
Additionally, Enzo has made significant progress in his leash work, moving with much more calmness and attention. What impressed me the most was how responsive and caring Rielar and Rachel were towards Enzo. They truly treated him like one of their own, and it was evident in every update they sent.
I highly recommend The Pawfect Dog to anyone considering a board and train program. The results speak for themselves, and it’s definitely worth the investment in your dog's future. Thank you, Rielar, Rachel, and Zoe, for your exceptional care and expertise!

I can’t say enough about Rachel and how great she is with our dog Charlie. Rachel has been a part of Charlie’s life since we got him and we still use so many of her techniques in our training with him. She recently boarded him while we were away. I couldn’t have been happier with how it went. Charlie was so happy with her and her other dogs. He had such an enriching experience, and I felt very reassured that he was safe, happy and healthy. I would give her 10 stars if I could. Besides me and my husband, there’s nobody I trust Charlie with more than Rachel.

I sent my 6-year-old beagle to Rachel after trying several other training programs that failed to get her to stop pulling me on walks and howling at the top of her lungs every time another dog passed by or she wanted a treat or food. She came back so well behaved I couldn’t believe it. I can take her on walks around the park with my infant son in his stroller, something I’d never been able to do because she was just too wild and stressful! She walks at my heel and passes dogs calmly! She is also good at holding place when we eat, which is huge growth since she’s such a food motivated dog. Rachel was also just such a pleasure to work with, she sent me constant updates while my dog was away and took care of her like she was her own. Cannot recommend her highly enough!!

I wish I can give more than 5 stars. In all honesty it was the best decision I could have made for my Aussie. His reactivity was really bad. I was never able to go on walks. If I did it wouldn’t be for more than 5 mins and at specific time where there was no movement around us. It became such a hard thing to do. He couldn’t see dogs or people even if it was across the street or up the block. He stayed with Rachel for 18 days. I saw the changes very early on from videos she sent everyday. The great thing about her was that she always kept me in the loop with every new thing he was doing or learning. I love that Cash (my Aussie) made some doggie friends and became part of a pack with the other dogs around him. When we got him he was super excited to see us but I can tell he was treated well and had a bond with his training family. Rachel has a dog name Boone who was a great support for cash. Like an emotional support dog for a dog lol. I knew Cash depended on Boone to follow and learn which was amazing because I had never seen him bond with any dog. I’ve had previous trainers in the past who didn’t fully understand him or what he needed. The focus was never reactivity, they would just characterize him as “aggressive”. His time with Rachel proved that he wasn’t an aggressive dog but just scared of the world around him. Now he’s a super happy dog living a healthy lifestyle. We go on walks 3-4 times a day and they are the best part of my days. Stuff like going to the farmers market or picking up pizza at the pizza shop are thing my kids and I now do with Cash. He’s fully trained to pee and poop outside. Which was one of my goals that I never thought can happen. Rachel made that happen since it’s her way of training. He’s now the perfect dog in my eyes. His impulse control is a lot better. We follow the commands Rachel taught me when I went to pick him up and we follow absolutely everything she said even the type of leash she used with him at training. She sent everything she used (Amazon links) and I purchased it prior to pick up. So it was easy to learn how to walk him, what to say and what to do. Every dog is different and Rachel knew what was best for him. I am eternally grateful for her help. We still maintain in contact. She kept herself involve the first day back home to make sure we were all good. Board and training is better for reactive dogs. After picking him up it has been the easiest time in the 2 years I’ve had him. His behavior has improved tremendously and it’s amazing how much he understands with just certain words or movements. I give Rachel and Boone a 10/10. Even more. Life as a dog mom is now perfect thanks to “The Pawfect Dog”. I love how we also saw his progress on their Ig account. Cash now has a family in Hoboken. 🙏🏼❤️

When I brought Jake to Rachel he had very bad separation anxiety. After a board and train I'm happy to say he's thriving! Couldn't be happier with the change.

Rachel is a miracle worker! Our 1.5 year old beagle/pit mix is a handful- full of energy and stubborn to boot. After board and train with Rachel for 2 weeks, Suki is calmer, listens more often to her commands, and is in general a happier dog. We can't thank Rachel enough for giving us the tools to help us be better dog parents to Suki.

It’s hard to find the word(s) that explains how happy I am that I serendipitously stumbled upon Rachel and a post by The Pawfect Dog. I sent a note and she immediately answered and set up an intro call. Impressed was an understatement. She understood my situation, and was able to identify what the issues were. I felt so comfortable and for the first time felt validated that it wasn’t (entirely) my fault! Getting two very different but spirited puppies (now under 3) during a pandemic was hard for socialization. We tried other services and they were unsuccessful. I scheduled with Rachel, dropped them off, got videos and communications daily - it was amazing! When I picked my two up and got them home, it was like night and day. After two weeks of board and train with Rachel, I am THRILLED! We have control over our house again, we have a routine that we can stick to and most of all, the dogs are happy and at ease! A MILLION TIMES - THANK YOU! Poppy and Taco will return for boarding and refresh training and I would “paws down” recommend The Pawfect Dog!

Rachel was absolutely wonderful with our chihuahua mix puppy Tank. She really helped boost his confidence and made obedience training easy. I really appreciated how much communication we had while Tank was with her, I know he had a great time too! I’d highly recommend working with Rachel!

Rachel is an awesome dog trainer. It is truly amazing how much of a change she made in my dog’s behavior in such a short time. Her approach shows what a kind and patient trainer she is. She performs miracles with everything from basic commands to socialization skills. Rachel’s assistant, Boone, is a great helper with the training. I highly recommend Rachel for all dog training needs!

If you are looking for a dog trainer (a) who is RESPONSIVE to all your questions (no matter what time of day or how ridiculous), (b) who explains every step she takes in DETAIL (both via text and video), and (c) who MAGICALLY turns your puppy from an over-excited, nippy/mouthy, and impulse-driven dog to a well-behaved, easy to walk and calm best friend - DON'T LOOK ANY FURTHER! Board and train your puppy/dog with Rachel NOW!
As a first time dog owner who rescued, we had no idea what we had gotten ourselves into and were in way over our heads. The period before we found Rachel was literally full of tears, frustration and yelling. Then, Rachel stepped in and began working her magic. We saw changes in our puppy on Day 1 and things only got better and better each day. Halfway through our board and train, we brought our puppy home for my son's birthday and it was like night and day. Walking our puppy was a DREAM, "sit" meant that our puppy actually sat (instead of running around barking or continuing to do what she wasn't supposed to) and most importantly, there was no more growling or nipping aggressively at our boys.
Rachel didn't only work on training our dog but she also trained us - the dog owners. We learned so much from her - what we were doing right and what we needed to change - so that we could lead our puppy instead of everything becoming mayhem.
Rachel has a no nonsense way about her and she is always honest and clear about what her goals are and what she seeks to achieve. She is also a problem-solver and if you present her with a specific concern, she is darn well going to fix/address/resolve it for you.
A review for The Pawfect Dog wouldn't be complete without giving special praise to its CEO, Boone. I swear his presence alone brings wayward puppies in line and at the dog park, they can have fun and play because Boone is watching over them.
Thanks so much Rachel and Boone, we can't wait to see you guys soon!
